World Day of the Sick 2018
Today is World Day of the Sick, an observation started by Pope John Paul II to offer prayers for those suffering from illnesses. The day coincides with the commemoration of Our Lady of Lourdes.
Prayer for the Sick
I reach out to you, my God, in this time of need.
Carry me on the difficult days when I have no strength.
Wrap me in your love when I am discouraged.
May your grace wash over me and refresh me.
And as you hold me tenderly in the palm of your hand,
I ask for healing of all my afflictions. Amen

The World Meeting of Families
As you are all aware, Dublin is hosting this upcoming International Event in 2018. To help prepare for this special event we would like to invite you to St. Oliver’s Parish Centre where a series of video clips will be shown. These clips will include messages from Pope Francis and some thought provoking topics that relate to Families in 2018. This Six-Session “Parish Conversation” will be held in St Oliver’s Parish Centre each Wednesday at 7.30pm from 21st February to 4th April inclusive.
We would ask you to give some thought to attending these Sessions as we endeavour to prepare for such a special occasion in our Country.
Everybody is Welcome.
A conference on local responses to Laudato Si will be held on Saturday, March 3rd in St. Pauls Parish Centre, Lisduggan beginning at 9.30am. The aim of the conference is to explore how parishes and local voluntary groups can respond to the challenges to our environment outlined by Pope Francis in his encyclical. The two major themes of the conference are climate change and threat to our biodiversity. Also the concept of the green flag award for parishes will be introduced. The key note speaker will be Fr Sean McDonagh, Eco-Theologian.

SAFEGUARDING FORMS
Many thanks to those who have already returned the Safeguarding Forms and Garda Vetting to us.
A reminder all completed forms are to be in by Monday 19 February to assist us greatly in the administration of this important area.
Just a reminder: Please enclose one photo ID (such as a drivers licence or passport or public services card. Photos on their own will not suffice)
Also, we need one proof of address – (this can be a bank statement / letterhead bill/ or something official with your name and address on it.) It would be of great help if you can enclose two copies of each photo ID and letterhead / bill which are needed by the Garda Vetting Unit.
If you have already returned your forms without these ID’s, can you please give them into the parish office / sacristies by 19 February so we can process the Garda Vetting. Many thanks again for all your co-operation in this task and for maintaining the highest standards of safeguarding in our parish.
Coeliac Condition
A reminder that those who wish to receive the low-gluton hosts, please approach the main celebrant at every Mass who will have these hosts in a separate part of the ciborium.
