SAFETY NOTICE
Thank you to everyone who, during this flu season, took on board the Safety advice of the Bishop in the omitting the shaking hands at the sign of peace. The alternative of bowing or nodding to those around acknowledges the sign of peace and helps protect everyone. We continue to take medical advice and best liturgical practices at this time for everyone in our churches.
Following on from feedback, we are happy to offer those who wish to take the low-gluten hosts from the main celebrant at every Mass during the distribution of Holy Communion. He will have a special separate section in the ciborium where these hosts will be available. Please let the Priest know as you approach if you wish to receive these hosts. Those with other requirements will continue to receive Holy Communion in the usual way by arrangement with the priest.

We Welcome to the Parish and the Christian Community:
Alexander Risteard Ó Donoghue, Kornel Kevin Kowalik, Nikodem Grenasiuk, Grace Marie Kelly
Congratulations to the Parents and God Parents.

SAFEGUARDING SUNDAY
As part of our on-going commitment to maintaining the highest standards of safeguarding in our parish, and in line with new legislation, which came into force on 11 December 2017, we are now asked to ensure all staff, ministers and helpers are vetted every four years in each parish. This is across our diocese and across many voluntary, sports and musical organisations and companies in Ireland due to the new legislation.
Every role in ministry potentially involves contact with children and /or vulnerable adults, and irrespective of the degree of such contact, the diocese requires all who are employed or who engage in volunteer ministry and works of service are Garda Vetted.
In order to ensure we are fully compliant with the law, we are this month, asking all those who work and serve in our church to complete 4 forms including a Garda Vetting Form. These forms ensure we have all the relevant required forms in line with this legislation. For those who have been ministering for some time, the referee’s are the priests of the parish and have been noted on this form already.
All ministers and staff have a letter for them in the sacristy or choir areas and can be collected today. Any that are not collected will be posted to people this week. Please ensure all relevant pages are completed, signed, and ticked where asked.
If you can send back the completed forms in the self-return envelope by Monday 19 February 2018, this will help us enormously to ensure our standards are maintained and will assist us greatly in the administration of this legal requirement.
We appreciate that this may appear to be asking a lot but we know you also appreciate that our safeguarding standards and the legislation needs to be upheld to the highest standards possible.
The forms only take about 10 minutes to complete and as we said only happens once every four years. If you have any queries, questions or concerns, please contact either Eileen in our parish office, or any member of the Safeguarding Team.
We thank you for your on-going commitment and time in your ministry in our parish, and maintain the highest standards of safeguarding in our parish.

Next Sunday the 11th February is World Day of the Sick. It is also the Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes.
