Tidy Towns Report
The written copy of the 2017 Tidy Towns adjudication report dropped into the village secretary’s letter box early Tuesday morning and welcome news it had. The Marlfield Village marks were increased by 9 bringing our year’s work to the grand total of 294.the village gained in all barring one category and we noted the synopsis with great interest. We are up there with the top villages and with our new found energy and commitment we are up for it again next year. The report can be summed up in an extract from the adjudication “The natural stone walls throughout the village are incredibly impressive and they, along with the lovely mature trees, provide so much of the distinctive character of Marlfield”. A full copy of the adjudication report will be hand delivered to all villagers asap.
A Lovely Cuppa.
This year’s work in the evenings has finished until next year when we start all over again. The village work team have a lot of the heavy lifting done and over the coming Saturdays will prepare the verges from Patricks well cross to the Well itself. Once levelled and seeded a regular cut of the mower will ensure that pedestrian will no longer have to stay on the road when vehicles are passing. The final evening’s work finished with all the volunteers having a cuppa, slices of cake and a selection of apple tarts in the Marlfield Hurling Club. This was a lovely end to a great years work and community get togetherness and well done to everyone
