Advent
Next Sunday 27th November is the beginning of Advent. Advent is the period of four Sundays and weeks before
Christmas. Advent means ‘Coming’ in Latin. This is the coming of Jesus into the world. We use the four Sundays and weeks of Advent to prepare and remember the real meaning of Christmas.
CD in Aid of the Church Renovation Fund
Calm me Lord
The CD is on sale in the Parish Shop and was very popular last year. It is an ideal gift for those at home and away. It features the Church Choir conducted by Musical Director Vivienne McAuliffe with Organist Tony Egan and Clonmel soprano Sylvia Carney. The original idea to produce this CD in aid of the Restoration Fund came from Parishioner and local businessman Mr. Willie Nagle.
Commissioning Ceremony for the Pope John Paul II Award Students
To mark the launch of the Pope John Paul II award in Clonmel parishes, the students, and their parents, family friends and teachers will be present at the 11am Mass this Sunday, in S.S. Peter & Pauls Church. At the Mass there will be a short commissioning ceremony where the students commit to doing the best they can in the year ahead. Some students will also be involved in the liturgy and it will be a lovely start to the award in Clonmel. We wish these students all the very best and thank them for all they have done so far in their parish and community so far.
Poinsettias
Many thanks to everyone who has supported the Pope John Paul II awards in raising funds and sponsoring a poinsettia for the Christmas displays in our churches. This weekend is the final weekend for sponsoring this initiative, as we have to place the order with our supplier on Monday. We will have a final figure raised in the coming weeks.

World Remembrance Day for Road Traffic Victims 2016: Sunday 20th November.
World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims gives us an opportunity to remember those who have died on our roads and the families, friends and communities who have been devastated by their loss. For thousands of families around the country, their lives are forever changed as a result of a collision. On World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims, we remember not only the people who have died on our roads, but we also encourage people to consider the other preventable tragedies that will happen before the end of the year. This year, we have tragically already seen 159 lives lost on our roads. That is 159 families and communities who are devastated by a loss this year in counties all over Ireland. World Day of Remembrance serves as a stark reminder to us all to consider what we can do to prevent more loss of life on our roads this year. World Remembrance Day for Road Traffic Victims 2016: A ceremony will take place on Sun 20th Nov at Woodlands Hotel, Waterford from 2pm to 3pm. email to fkavanagh@rsa.ie or by phone on 087 6123969
