CONFIRMING OUR CHILDREN
Beginning next weekend, we will welcome 6th class students preparing for the Sacrament of Confirmation. Confirming Our Children offers parents/guardians, children and the parish community the opportunity to prepare together for the sacraments of Confirmation.
Confirming Our Children is designed to take place within the context of the Parish celebration of the Eucharist. It is then continued in the home through the use of activities and resources for both parents/guardians and children. This highlights the importance of the Church as a place where we gather, are nourished by the Word and the Bread of Life, and are sent forth to live the Gospel. It also acknowledges the home as the most important and significant place, where the faith of our children is nurtured, nourished and sustained.
Our first Mass takes place on Saturday 15 October and both 6th classes from the Sisters of Charity and SS Peter & Pauls will be joining us for Mass and taking an active part in the liturgy. Please remember our Confirmation candidates as they prepare for this important
sacrament in our parish.

MISSION SUNDAY
October is mission month and bishops have welcomed this years mission message from Pope Francis: Missionary Church, Witness of Mercy. There are almost 1,200 Irish missionaries serving throughout the world. The theme for Mission month, and for World Mission Sunday on 23 October, is Every Christian is a missionary. This Jubilee Year of Mercy marks the 90th anniversary of the first World Missionary Day which was approved by Pope Pius XI in 1926 and organised by the Pontifical Society for the Propagation of the Faith. The Irish Bishops ask the faithful to support the country-wide collection for our missionaries which will take place on World Mission Sunday on 23rd October.
For our offertory collection today, any loose money and Mission Envelopes can be placed into the offertory collection for the Missions. Our weekly envelope collections can also be placed in the baskets, and these will remain for the needs of the parish. Again, we are so grateful to all who support the work of the local parish and Mission work church around the world.

Please note that when the Church of the Resurrection Novena falls on a Saturday it will take place at the 1pm Mass in Peter & Pauls.
This happens on Sat the 5th November.
Envelopes and lists for names of those remembered are available in both churches. Offerings may be enclosed with the lists. Envelopes may be returned to the Parish Shop or put in the weekly collection bags/baskets. The Novena in Ss.
