Marlfield Heritage Trail
The last four signs have been received and will be positioned in the next few weeks. The preparation of a guide leaflet on the trail will then commence and with most of the information already on computer this should be ready in a few weeks. The trail covers period from 6th century to the turn of the twentieth century and trail length about 2 kilometres.
The Village Scrapbook
Writing of the village scrapbook is ready to start and we have a box load of information, articles and photos to sort, type into the computer and then get printed. During our course of research some surprising information came to light including Marlfield’s connection with the Curragh Mutiny and 3 Victoria Crosses.
Road Kill
A fine specimen of the otter was victim to a vehicle during the week near the Bug Hotel. This is the second otter to be killed on the road in Marlfield in recent times and it indicates the this creature can stray well away from its water habitat
