The Franciscan Brothers were founded in Ireland in the early 1800s.  They were founded to work with the rural poor of Ireland.  Their work included Religious and Secular Education, Agriculture and Rural development.  Most of their monasteries were in the West of Ireland.  They are now working in the interior of Kenya and Uganda.  Included in their work are education, sustainable agriculture and rural development, food security and famine relief.  Br Brian Johnson will be visiting our Parish  next weekend.
