The Jesse Tree is a very ancient Christian custom. It represented Christs family tree springing from the root of Jesse. Basically it is a tree (or tree shape) which is decorated with symbols of people from the Bible who looked forward to the coming of the Messiah.
St Pio Prayer Group meet on the 1st Monday of each month and will meet on this Monday 5th December in St. Marys, Irishtown. Rosary at 6.30pm with Prayers and Mass for all petitions in the basket at 7pm.

Youth 2000: Youth 2000 invites all young adults between 1635 to a Catholic weekend retreat taking place from 16-18th Dec at Newbridge College, Co Kildare. This weekend is being organised by young people for young peo-ple. Parental consent is essential for all those under 18. All meals are provided and accommodation is on site. Dont let money be an obstacle, just bring a donation and a sleeping bag. Newcomers welcome. There will be free buses picking up from various areas throughout the country. Help the Homeless Christmas Shoebox Appeal
An appeal has been established to help those who are homeless feel some Christmas spirit as they face these cold winter nights. You are invited to decorate a shoebox for a male or female adult and include some of the following: hats, scarves, gloves, socks (thermal if possible), underwear (new only), poncho, toothpaste, toothbrush, combs, deodorant (no aerosols please), body wash, womens sanitary items, tissues, soap, shampoo, moisturisers, baby wipes, small towels, sweets, soup sachets, drink sachets (coffee/hot chocolate), toiletry bag, playing cards, torch and batteries, small book, jewellery, flask, notepad and pen etc. Feel free to include a Christmas card or note with a message of thought and hope. Donations of Clean Blankets and Sleeping bags are gratefully appreciated. There will be a drop off point at the end of each mass in St. Marys Church, Irishtown, on Saturday 10th (6:15pm) and Sunday 11th December (10:30am and 12:00pm). These shoeboxes will be distributed to the homeless people of Clonmel, Tipperary, Carrick-on-Suir and Waterford through their soup kitchens. This appeal is being managed in Clonmel by Robbie Fitzgerald-Hannigan.
