Village Dump
During the next few days passer-by’s will see evidence of digging in what used to be the Marlfield Village dump. However it is not treasure seekers or amateur archaeologists but the village Tus scheme planting bluebells. This is an ideal area as it is fully open in early spring before the growth of tree foliage makes it dark and void of undergrowth. All going well this should be a colourful and cheerful corner in early spring.
Wild Flower Garden
The wild flower bed planted near the Pond Life sanctuary took off in spectacular fashion last week after the rain and now is a lovely treat for the eye. The selection of wild flower seed was chosen for its ability to attract bees, butterflies and other similar friendly insects. The colourful plants are evidently working as it is some time since so many insects could be seen in one place all busy feeding and pollinating Much of our countryside has been converted to monoculture due to sprays and intensive single crop and this is the village making an effort to redress the balance of nature
