Day of Prayer and Atonement
The annual Day of Prayer for Survivors and Victims of Abuse took place on Friday 15th February 2019, just one week before the historic gathering in Rome hosted by Pope Francis on 21st-24th February to discuss the safeguarding of minors in the Church. We ask for your prayers for all those who have been hurt by abuse in the Church. We pray for Pope Francis and for the success of the meeting in Rome at which senior bishops and religious superiors from around the world will be attending.

UPDATE ON FR. COLM O’BRIEN’S CAUSE
Our thanks to the very large numbers present, for being with us and for their openness and sharing which made this such a positive and uplifting experience, for all present at the gathering in Hotel Minella in November. As outlined on the evening, this is very much the start of an exploratory process, which can take considerable time. For those present who indicated a willingness be contacted further in this regard, we expect to be in a position to follow up on this in the spring. For those who were unable to be with us but would like to be part of the ongoing process please contact Fr Michael Toomey on 052-6123239 or in SS Peter & Paul’s Parish Office. In addition, we will issue general updates on progress, as the process develops. The ongoing support and assistance of all who came to know and love Fr. Colm is very welcome and very much appreciated.
Bishop Cullinan, Dennis Holland, Jimmy Ryan & Fr Toomey

Candle of Atonement Prayer
Lord, forgive us our many sins.
We grieve and repent with all our hearts for having offended you, for our great failings and neglect of the young and vulnerable.
We place all of those who have been hurt by the Church in any way into your loving hands and under the protection of Our Blessed Mother.
Lord, bring peace to their broken lives and show us all the way out of darkness and into the light of your Word.
May we as the people of God be more fully human, more fully Christ-like and more fully your people, that we may see the errors of the past and go forward with renewed hope and faith in Christ and in our Church.
Amen.
