Table Quiz
The Marlfield Village fund raising table quiz takes place in Carey’s bar Irishtown Clonmel on Thursday night the 16th November starting at 8pm. There are spot prizes galore and with the winning team rewarded with a lovely prize. The cost of a table is €20 for four participants and a great night’s craic is promised. The Big Clean Up
The process of cleaning and mending the damage done by tropical storm Ophelia is on-going but all essential works are well in hand. Falling trees damaged walls around St Patricks Well Crossroad’s and the repairs may not start for some time. The ancient Chapel in the Well had a lucky escape when a falling tree had its impact reduced by adjacent walls and trees. This tree lies across the body of the chapel but no apparent damage to the masonry walls is evident on cursory examination. The lovely avenue of mature chestnut trees at St Patrick’s Chapel however suffered great damage but nothing of importance in either the burial grounds of buildings was damaged. The large mature walnut tree which is also one of the champion trees of Tipperary lost a big bough and may require remedial pruning to safeguard its health.
Marlfield Local Area Plan intention to revoke
The latest date for submissions on the revocation of the Marlfield Local area plan is 4.30pm on Monday 13th November 2017. It is in everyone’s interest to log onto the Tipperary Co Council website and look at what issues that the planners intend to implement. One matter of concern to the residents of Marlfield Village is the intention to provide for new residential building development to the east and south sides of Mountain View but no indication of how these new residential sites will be accessed. The proposed size of the development is as great as the existing village.
